This magnificent ecosystem features ancient Myrtle Beech (Nothofagus cunninghamii), Sassafras (Atherosperma moschatum) and Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon). Listen out for the Superb Lyrebird calling, these birds have the ability to mimic sounds of other birds, mammals and even humans. They have even been heard mimicking the sound of chainsaws and machinery! Whilst you wander keep an eye on the forest floor for the largest moss in the world, Dawsonia superba. This special forest is also home to the Platypus, they are easily disturbed so wandering quietly can increase your chance of witnessing these unique creatures.
